Nairobi, Kenya - The United Nations and the World Bank have planned an international fund-raising conference in early 2009 to seek more financial assistance for Somalia to help implement a year-long recovery programme.UN Special envoy for Somalia Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah said on Friday his office was planning the joint fund-raising event to seek funds for the peace and reconstruction in Somalia, following progress on talks to end the conflict in the Horn of Africa state."I hope the conference will have a positive outcome which will help the Somali people to benefit from working towards peace," said Ould-Abdallah.Sweden, one of the few countries that has sustained the pressure for a peaceful end to the conflict in Somalia, is helping to convene the international conference on Somalia. more..http://www.afriquenligne.fr/un-prepares-new-somali-peace-support-plan-2008101813958.html
