al- shabaab Terrorist leader declines to hold talks with rival

The former chairman of Al-Ittihad (who is now the chairman of the Asmara-based faction of the al-shabaab Terrorist Hasan Dahir Aweys has refused to participate in talks that were to be held in Somalia. Religious leaders were to mediate in the talks between the two factions of the ARS which are based in Asmara and Djibouti. Terrorist Aweys said he refused to participate in the talks because the mediators are leaning more towards Sheikh Sharif (ARS chairman of the Djibouti-based faction). The chairman of the Asmara-based faction of the ARS added that he would not attend the mediation talks. Sources close to Aweys said he also postponed a trip to Mogadishu after religious leaders in Somalia requested to meet with him once he arrives in the country.
He opposed the agreement between the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (TFG) Djibouti-based ARS faction led by Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmad. Aweys said Sheikh Sharif has reneged on their agreement and will therefore not hold any talks. Some sources indicate that the Djibouti-based faction of the ARS led by Sheikh Sharif are willing to hold talks with Terrorist Hasan Dahir Aweys and want to resolve their dispute through dialogue and restore peace in Somalia. Those involved in their mediation have asked both sides to pursue dialogue in order to salvage the country out of it's current situation. The statement by Terrorist Hasan Dahir Aweys comes at a time when a delegation led by the Djibouti-based ARS leader Sheikh Sharif, has been travelling across Somalia holding talks with various groups that are fighting the government and foreign troops in the country.
