Somalia: Al Shabaab Accused of Blocking Aid From Needy Citizens

Mogadishu — The humanitarian committee of Somali transitional federal parliament on Monday accused Al shabaab fighters of being an obstacle after blocking humanitarian aid from the needy drought stricken people.Mohamoud Abdi Aliyow, the chairman of parliament's humanitarian committee told reporters in Mogadishu said that Al shabaab is doing every thing to prevent international aid agencies from reaching to the drought affected people.He said that in the past Al shabaab has banned more than 20 aid agencies from operating in southern and central Somalia where Al shabaab strongly controls.
The statement of Somali government official comes as people and domestic animals started dying of hunger, thirst and starvations in the regions under Al shabaab control.
