Elbur (tf.sf) In a central Somalia town, the body of a famous traditional elder was found on Sunday morning after he was taken hostage by the militant fighters a week ago, local Radio reports.
Elder Shire Dahir Osman was taken as hostage by armed Al Shabab fighters from his home a week ago after he has declined to raise funds for the militants from his clansmen to support for what Al Shabab termed as “Jihad war” in Somalia.
The body of late Osman was found 3km out of the vicinity of Elbur town, a stronghold town for
AlShabab Galgadud region of central Somalia.
According to family members who only accepted to speak local media in condition of anonymity, Late Elder Osman was among dozen of local elders who met with Al Shabab officers in a month before and were instructed to collect funds for the operations of the militant group but Late Osman has rejected yo follow the instruction while other elders fled from the region.
Heavily armed fighters came his home last week and took him as a hostage, the family members told. He was beheaded and then his body thrown outside the town if Elbur.
Al Shabab has imposed strict regulations and forcibly levied taxes and duty on the business people and herdsmen in the regions they control as they behead anyone fails to pay such money.
