3000 Ugandan troops arrive in Somalia,Total number off African Union peacekeeping forces deployed is 12,000, mostly from Uganda and Burundi Also in other News: Djibouti to join AU peacekeeping troops in Somalia

Some 3,000 Ugandan soldiers have arrived in the Somali capital to prop the beleaguered government against al-Shabab group in the Horn of Africa nation. Other reinforcements are en route to the strife-torn country as part of the international forces to help the Somali administration, a terror free somalia  correspondent reported on Saturday, quoting a top African Union (AU) commander.

Abdikadir Sheikh Ali Dini released a statement saying that somali gov. is  "very pleased and very grateful" for the support of Uganda and Burundi. the young men and women from Uganda and Burundi Soldiers, come here to serve , who make up the African Union troops and who offer the ultimate  sacrifice
Somali government,he siad  TFG military has made significant gains,  military backed by AU forces has recently launched an offensive to flush out al-Shabab fighters,we are going to finish the job,  especially in parts of the capital, Mogadishu, which are under the control of the group. Al-Shabab is fighting the UN-backed administration for control of the country. Al-Shabab was formerly the military wing of the Islamic Courts Union (ICU), which controlled much of central and southern Somalia in late 2006, until the Ethiopian invasion. Somalia has been without a functioning government since 1991, when Hawiye warlords (usc ) and isaaq clan aka  (snm) overthrew Honourable Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre .Somala is Strategically located in the Horn of Africa, Somalia remains one of the countries generating the highest number of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP) in the world.
According to an annual account by the Foreign Policy magazine, Somalia tops the most 'failed' states on the 'Failed States Index.' An estimated 1.4 million Somalis are displaced within the country while another 680,000 live as refugees in neighboring countries, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The UNHCR reported in April that the number of Somali refugees arriving to neighboring countries during the first quarter of 2011 has more than doubled in comparison to the same period in 2010
