Former Somali freedom fighter dies in Bosaso

 
A former Somali freedom fighter Ladane Salah Dayr has died in the port city of Bosaso, northeastern Somalia, on Wednesday aged 100.
Dayr was a member of the Somali Youth League (SYL), initially known as the Somali Youth Club (SYC), which played a key role in the nation’s road to independence during the 1950s and 1960s.
He died aged 100 for unspecified illness, according relatives of the fallen freedom fighter.
During his time struggle for freedom, Dayr was the financial head of the the Somali Youth League and has been living in his home town of Armo, 100 km from Bosaso town, Bari region since the collapse of Somalia’s central government in 1991.
His remains is set to be laid to rest on Thursday, according to Puntland president Abdirahman Farole.
