As a result of today’s incident the Prime Minister of Somalia Dr Abdiweli Mohamed Ali visited the Bad-baado camp and held press conference at the camp and stated the following:
“I am very pleased to be here in Bad-baado camp to see the humanitarian assistance in operation as well as to see Internally Displaced People and how they are settling in the camp. However, I am very sorry to learn today’s incident of looting food aid. This is a criminal and my Government will never tolerate such crime to take place in one of the IDPs camp. I have appointed a committee to fully investigate the incident with a view to bringing those responsible to justice. The Mayor of Mogadishu, the Police Commissioner and the Chief Intelligence will lead the investigation.
“I have also asked our security forces to ensure that the camp is fully protected at all times. The protection of civilians and in particular IDPs is very important to us and my Government will do everything possible to help its citizens.
