Al-Shabaab rebel group has on Thursday night pulled out of its bases in Burdubo district of Gedo region after heavily armed government and ASWJ forces pitched tents in Fanweyn area, few kilometers from Burdubo town.
In an exclusive interview with Bar-kulan, ASWJ spokesman in the region Mohamed Hussein Issack Al-Qadi said the joint forces are heading towards Burdubo in efforts to drive away the militant group from the area.
He vowed to continue their fight against the rebel group in the region, saying the militia is a burden on the locals who are already suffering from drought and famine related crisis.
Elsewhere, government troops in parts of Gedo region have on Thursday conducting security operations aimed at tightening security in areas between Beled-hawo, Garbaharey, Luq and El-wak.
