Hundreds of people have today demonstrated in the towns of Garbaharrey, Beled-Hawo and Luk in Gedo region to support the extension of the Transitional Federal Government whose mandate is scheduled to expire in August.
The demonstrators carried slogans supporting the Somalia’s President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, both of whom support a one year extension.
They asked the International community to mind the wants of the Somali people and the government. The demonstrators pointed out the efforts of the government saying that it is the perfect government that will bring Somalia back on its feet.
These demonstrations come at a time when government forces are in fierce fighting with Al-Shabab militias in Mogadishu and in other parts of the country.
The towns where the demonstrators gathered to support the Transitional Federal Government have recently been seized from Al-Shabaab in fierce fighting in the Gedo region.
