Uganda which is paying the greatest sacrifice for Somalia in blood should not fold its hands from the mockery which is going on in Mogadishu. For behind the mockery are selfish persons.
If Uganda is there to help the Somali people regain their country it should not allow any group to hold the nation they are helping hostage. Uganda should use its leverage (if need be threaten the withdrawal of its support) to pressure this group headed by Abdirazak Osman Hassan Jurile who are allied with the Speaker Sheikh Hassan to end their destructive action which will bring down President Sheikh Sharif and with it the TFG.
Behind the impasse which is threatening to bring down the transitional government of President Sheikh Sharif is a group of MPs from Puntland headed by Abdirizak Osman Hassan Jurile who is himself from Puntland.
Since the rift between President Sheikh Sharif and the Speaker Sharif Hassan, this group from Puntland has been allies with the Speaker. They have tribal and personal reasons behind what they are doing. But what Jurile and his group are doing is selfish and may bring down the government of Sheikh Sharif. Ethiopia too is involved and is allied with this group. The whole aim behind the action of this group is to undermine and sideline Sheikh Sharif and to install their choice for Prime Minister who is also from Puntland.
Sheikh Sharif is right to insist that a candidate from a different clan other than the clan of the resigned Prime Minister should be appointed. Why Jurile and his group are holding the TFG hostage is criminal.
Officials from different clans should be given the opportunity. No group should see itself the custodian of power. It is unfair on Sheikh Sharif to spoil for him and make him impotent in the face of the nation and the world because he cannot see through Parliament his of Prime Minister.
Abdirizak Osman Hassan Jurile and his group should refrain from their destructive action to further undermine the TFG and allow the choice of Sheikh Sharif, the new Prime Minister to commence his duties.
Uganda when it is paying a hefty price in blood should not just stand there watching while every inch of security achievement its brave soldiers make is jeopardized by greedy few persons who do not care about Somalia. Persons such as Abdirazak Osman Hassan Jurile and Sheikh Hassan who are behaving like children should be told of by Uganda which has the leverage to do so because it is Uganda which is doing the dying.
