President speaks out the fighting in the capital
Somalia’s president Sharif Sheik Ahmed on Monday condemned the continuation of the fighting in the capital as unlucky reiterating his offer for peace with the Islamist groups and to come to the negotiating table,In a news conference held today in the presidential house, President Ahmed said fighting is not the solution and his government is ready to reconcile with the rebel groups. Ahmed said the government will defend the country's sovereignty using any means necessary to stop the fighting. His comments came after four days of heavy fighting in the capital which killed more than 100+ people mainly civilians and wounded hundreds more.This is the fiercest fighting that Mogadishu has seen in months.Local resident confirmed that they saw foreign militants fighting alongside Al-Shabab who put up black flags on the areas they captured.Thousands of people fled their houses in the capital to safer areas as the exchange of artillery shells hitting several villages in Mogadishu.The president is accusing the rebel insurgents of trying to topple his government as the US government is worrying that Somalia could be base for the international terrorists. He blamed foreign countries on pursuing their own interests in Somalia.
