The officials of the transitional federal government have announced the reopening of Dabka road leading to the main Bakara market which was cut off by the fighting in Mogadishu.
The reopening of the road came after the TFG officials and the Bakara market business committee on Monday held talks in the capital discussing ways of reopening the routes leading to Bakara market. Bakara market is at the heart of the capital, the busiest and biggest market in Mogadishu.
The Somali military commander, Abdikarim Yussuf Adan ‘Dhaga-badan’ said the road linking the Dabka junction and Bakara market is now open, and he proposed that the foxholes dug by Al Shabab be refilled. Dhaga-badan said the road will be used between 7am to 5pm in the evening and is open to the public henceforth.The commander said the reopening of the market is very important for the community.
