Galka'yo — Somalia's autonomous region of Puntland on Thursday accused Al shabaab¸ Al Qaeda's proxy in the horn of Africa nation, of destabilizing the regions and towns under the control of Puntland.
Ahmed Ali Salad, the governor of Mudug region under Puntland says the repeated assassinations and planned murders in Galka'yo town are masterminded by Al shabaab group which is in fight against the transitional federal government of Somalia in Mogadishu and many parts of the country
He said that the security forces of Puntland are doing their best to assure the security and tranquility in the regions of Puntland, particularly Galga'yo.
In the last few months, Galka'yo, a town in central Somalia has seen a numerous terrorist actions against Puntland officials and famous religious and social figures.
Recently, the governor of Mudug himself narrowly escaped a roadside bomb attack in Galka'yo.
Al Shabaab Fighters Surrender to Shabelle Valley Administration
Beletweyne — The administration of Somalia's Shabelle Valley, which operates parts of central Somalia, on Thursday, said that a number of Al shabaab fighters yielded.
Mohammed Nur Agajof, Shabelle Valley's minister of information told Shabelle Media Network that at least 15 Al shabaab fighters defected and joined to their side.
Mr. Agajof said in the interview that they defected fighters are in the ages between 15 and 18.
Asked about the accuracy of the claim, the minister said that they will soon display them in parts of Hiran region in central Somalia.
However, no independent reports verifying the truthfulness of Shabelle Valley claims were immediately available so far.
Al shabaab has not yet to release any comments about the defection of their soldiers.
Tense is High in Beletweyne As Fighting Looming
Beletweyne — The situation of Beletweyne, the regional capital of Hiran region in central Somalia on Friday is reported to be very tense as fighting between Al shabaab fighters and Somalia's Shabelle Valley administration is looming.
Both Al shabaab and Shabelle Valley fighters are making military maneuvers and movements in the areas of Kalabeyrka and Elgal, just outside Beletweyne.
The tense started after a large number of Somalia's Al shabaab, which US alleges to be Al Qaeda's surrogate in the horn of Africa nation, moved towards military basements manned by the fighters loyal to Shabelle Valley administration.Local residents reported that every moment battles between Al shabaab and their political antagonists could break out in those areas fear mounts.
