The African Union Condemns the Attack on AMISOM Peacekeepers by Insurgents Resulting in the Death Of 2 Peacekeepers
The African Union deeply regrets the death of two peacekeepers and another seven injured members as a result of unprovoked insurgent attack on their positions in Mogadishu
The African Union unequivocally condemns this cowardly and barbaric act and reiterates that these acts will neither weaken the serious efforts to implement the Djibouti Agreement nor deter the African Union, the People of Somalia and the United Nations in their determination and commitment to intensify efforts towards national reconciliation peace and stability as concluded in Djibouti.
The African Union therefore calls on all peace loving nations to consider any threat to AMISOM as threats to international peace and security. The Commission therefore calls on the international community to collectively join in condemning all acts of aggression and terrorism against AMISON and to continue to provide AMISOM with the necessary morale and logistic support to finding a lasting peace in Somalia
