Puntland war on terror

Puntland Info minister press conference: killed over 65 today's operation 3/20/2016
Puntland Defence Forces leadership Commander in chief H.E Abdiwali M Ali Gas .VP Abdihkim ,  visits bases of Puntland Defense Forces in after returning from battlefield.   delivers remarks expressing his gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our troops and their families today 3/22/2016

‘’Al-Shabaab emerged in 2005 as a violent Islamist group intent on enforcing its brand of justice across Somalia. In late 2006, it focused on expelling the Ethiopian forces that had intervened in Somalia and later aligned itself with al-Qa’ida. And in 2008 for the first in the history it has declared its presence in Puntland with their major representative Mohamed Said Atom’’
On March 14 2016, the weary Al-Shabaab militia has accessed the natural port of Gar’ad as their first en route to Puntland, 4 boats with more than 400 Al-Shabaab militants has utilized to land at Puntland peripheries, hence their plan is to utilize Puntland long coast to reach their target areas which was Galgala and Qandala. It’s the first time they intrude in Puntland but from past 8 years Al-Shabaab has showed presence and former government led by Farole has fought militarily.
But this their second face move was majorly motived by the transformation of their strategy, in south Somalia where Al-Shabaab’s main base placed is geographically beautiful and better greenish hub but the internationally agreed war on terror has directed USA drones to strike Al-Shabaab in Somalia where they cannot find a place to conceal from the strikes.
Puntland Info minister press conference: killed over 60 today's operation

Therefore the emerging threat seeks strategic placement and threatens regional and global security. If Al-Shabaab access to the strategic coastline in Puntland prevails, there will be a connexion between Puntland and Yemeni-based terror networks, thus strengthening the viability of insurgencies in Puntland, though they saw Galgala mountains in Puntland as better place to veil from drone cameras not shot and strike them in order for their future existence,
Things we learned
Puntland ‘militarily power full state’
From the first time when the weary militias has landed, Puntland government declared a quick military display to deal with the fatal blow of the militants from Puntland, remember those guys from south Somalia are those or same like those who fought against AMISON the largest military cooperation intended for Somalia’s peace keeping and AMISON couldn’t defeat them.
But the 18 years old Puntland Defense Forces with the support of the Puntland people have fought and crushed recurrent insurgencies wielded by the terrorists since, The Puntland Defense forces reassure the people of Puntland State of capability and continued commitment to defend the Puntland jurisdiction from any threat ‘’ in this case the world should learn from Puntland how brave and togetherness they chased and flushed out Al-Shabaab we thank to those who died for defending and saving us from devils.
Military power is not for defeating only the likes of these terrorists but a symbol for veto power because we are in a world where mutual interest has worked deeply in the roots of military power
As my year and half Puntland intelligence directorate I could never imagine the result should be calculated in such few days and In the history of Al-Shabaab in any place else in Somalia and horn Africa it has never happened to them such a huge lose of the apprehended detainees, the killed Al-Shabaab fighters and their destroyed weapons by Puntland Defence forces, such a very proud credit is for Puntland military force, and to those who died fighting for us they have been placed the gold pages of our centuries to come.

Puntland people ’ strong and generous for togetherness’
And because Now it’s a lesson learned , we have seen the very good picture of Puntland people and we have sighted the dignity of our togetherness the likes of today, the idea, financial and hand assistance we provided made our military forces more stronger and inspired them to overrun the wrong-directed extremist militia, the Puntland military appreciates the thousands of volunteers who have mobilized themselves and submitted their allegiance to the military forces in the unified response to this emerging threat, at the times of critics and such military emergencies Puntland people invest their souls and everything related for the common national issues.
Puntland ‘ powerful and Independent’
Yet while the international community is funding thousands of millions of dollars to Mogadishu where the ineffective Somalia government runs, where AMISON’s 22 thousand soldier are, Puntland government has never received any hand on the war on terror but the last 8 days clean up operations has majorly presented our military power that can destroy a such ever existed south-Somalia’s terrorist dominant group, our enemy should not come easily far more like this and they see what happened to the largest Al-Qaeda ally in Africa largely.

Remember, before 21 March when major victory has rested in Garowe even no one including UN newly mandated representative has sounded about Puntland’s military emergency.
Some believe and suggested that the western intelligence should have aware of the move and the international naval flotilla could have blocked them, but from my view point as a junior security intelligence directorate those guys couldn’t follow such a quick move made by the militants and in analysis NISA’s surveillance team should have aware of it.
And even without the help of the international naval flotilla them my own analysis gave me we could have won whatever the case.
Puntland Info minister press conference: killed over 60 today's operation

My final say on the chapter
We have made celebrity on the war against Al-Shabaab that led the international community to deeply concern over what happened last 7 days in Puntland, they should have come now beyond their request, whether the war was political agenda sold by a few silent enemies today we have the will to bargain every business that involves our interest because we are in a century where mutual interest has worked deeply in the roots of military power.
and because we made a victory does not mean we are purely save, from my experience as junior intelligence directorate, Al-Shabaab are very professional for the revenge, although we are strong enough secure our territory but yet I see the war will not end is such simple smile.
1. I do recommend to the government to establish Puntland’s security act that will further bring a far strong security policy and enrich the intelligence agencies with huge investment in terms of finance, qualified intelligence professionals and huge surveillance teams in order to realistically find a concrete information about the plans and strategies of our enemies.
2. and let me share with you an old intelligence principle that says ‘policy success or intelligence failure’ that simply gives very near image on how the intelligence is important for the medium and long policy on government.
In conclusion. We have scored a golden victory over the war against Al-Shabaab, i’m sending my profound appreciation to Puntland Military force who have invested their blood and soul for protecting this territory and its people, also the unforgettable allegiance and volunteers made by Puntland people local and abroad to support their defense military and Puntland journalist who proudly publicized the good pages of their defense military.
and by far this is moral support therefore guys in Puntland journalists ‘Thank you ‘ your braveness remains at the hearts of your nation.
Ahmed sulieman ‘Diinari’ is Puntland security directorate and has undergone post-graduate of international security study at Cavendish University

Somalia Islamists Muslim Brotherhood & the Mafia, the nuclear waste dump zone

In 1991, the government of Somalia – in the Horn of Africa – collapsed. Its nine million people have been teetering on starvation ever since – and many of the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country’s food supply and dump our nuclear waste in their seas.

Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone, mysterious European ships started appearing off the coast of Somalia, dumping vast barrels into the ocean. The coastal population began to sicken. At first they suffered strange rashes, nausea and malformed babies. Then, after the 2005 tsunami, hundreds of the dumped and leaking barrels washed up on shore. People began to suffer from radiation sickness, and more than 300 died. Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, the UN envoy to Somalia, tells me: “Somebody is dumping nuclear material here. There is also lead, and heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury – you name it.” Much of it can be traced back to European hospitals and factories, who seem to be passing it on to the Italian mafia to “dispose” of cheaply. When I asked Ould-Abdallah what European governments were doing about it, he said with a sigh: “Nothing. There has been no clean-up, no compensation, and no prevention.”

At the same time, other European ships have been looting Somalia’s seas of their greatest resource: seafood. We have destroyed our own fish-stocks by over-exploitation – and now we have moved on to theirs. More than $300m worth of tuna, shrimp, lobster and other sea-life is being stolen every year by vast trawlers illegally sailing into Somalia’s unprotected seas. The local fishermen have suddenly lost their livelihoods, and they are starving. Mohammed Hussein, a fisherman in the town of Marka 100km south of Mogadishu, told Reuters: “If nothing is done, there soon won’t be much fish left in our coastal waters.”

Somali waters have a high potential for fishing. As a result, the Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister has indicated that a study by his ministry had shown a large number of foreign vessels illegally fishing in Somali waters and serious pollution caused by vessels discharging toxic waste. Heavily armed foreign boats have often tried to exploit the breakdown of law and order in Somalia since the overthrow of President Mohammed Siad Barre in 1991 by fishing in the rich Somali waters, thus depriving coastal communities of resources.

Further, Somalia is one of the many Least Developed Countries that reportedly received countless shipments of illegal nuclear and toxic waste dumped along the coastline. Starting from the early 1980s and continuing into the civil war, the hazardous waste dumped along Somalia’s coast comprised uranium radioactive waste, lead, cadmium, mercury, industrial, hospital, chemical, leather treatment and other toxic waste. Most of the waste was simply dumped on the beaches in containers and disposable leaking barrels which ranged from small to big tanks without regard to the health of the local population and any environmentally devastating impacts.
Industrialised countries generate about 90 per cent of the world’s hazardous wastes. The amount of waste crossing national frontiers is increasing and is likely to continue, due to the high growth of industries in developed countries accompanied by a high increase in the production of hazardous waste. Reportedly, some European firms are known to be engaged in the business of dumping hazardous waste in Africa. The primary cause of this is cost. It has been estimated that it costs as little as $2.50 per tonne to dump hazardous waste in Africa as opposed to $250 per tonne in Europe.

From cocaine to plutonium: mafia clan accused of trafficking nuclear waste

Authorities in Italy are investigating a mafia clan accused of trafficking nuclear waste and trying to make plutonium.
The ‘Ndrangheta mafia, which gained notoriety in August for its blood feud killings of six men in Germany, is alleged to have made illegal shipments of radioactive waste to Somalia, as well as seeking the “clandestine production” of other nuclear material.
Its true there was an increase in illegal dumping of Toxic wastes on the Somali waters by European and Asia firms, because the country had no functional government for the past 17 years.  As a result almost all European and Asia firms started freely dumping their toxic wastes in Somali waters without paying for the service.

As a result of this, a group of enterprising Somalis leaving at the port of Eyl , a haven for piracy, approached the Italian mafias in Rome and explained their annoyance over the dumping of toxic wastes on their waters..

The group of Somalis then requested the Italian mafias to protect their waters and start collecting revenue from vessels plying the route. The Italian Mafias accepted to help their former protectorate by stopping the irresponsible dumping of toxics wastes on one condition, which was to seize any vessel travelling on the Somali waters and demand a ransom. Hence the beginning of a flourishing piracy business at the port of Eyl where NATO forces even fear to go
The Italian mafia is an old hand at illegal toxic-waste dumping, drug smuggling and kidnapping, but prosecutors now say it’s moved into sinister new lines of work providing services to foreign terrorists including Al Qaeda, and trafficking nuclear material. Francesco Basentini, head of anti-mafia police in Potenza, says his investigators have evidence that the Sicilian Cosa Nostra and Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta have been dealing in radioactive nuclear waste, some imported from elsewhere in Europe and the United States. And, he says, they’ve also been dabbling in the
“clandestine production of plutonium.”

While Basentini won’t reveal the mob’s customers for the nuclear materials, Nicola Gratteri, an anti-mafia prosecutor in Calabria, confirms that Italian mafiosi are increasingly working with foreign terrorists, and investigators have fingered the Naples Camorra mob as a conduit for fake documents and arms for Al Qaeda. Gratteri sees a perverse logic behind the mafia’s cooperation with terrorists: to make Italy a valued part of their infrastructure rather a target of their attacks.
***

Magistrate Francesco Basentini in the city of Potenza, in southern Italy, began the investigation after a confession of an ‘Ndrangheta “turncoat,” detailing his role in the alleged waste-dumping. Basentini said that two of the Calabrian clan’s members are being investigated, along with eight former employees of the state energy research agency Enea.

The eight Enea managers are suspected of paying the mobsters to get rid of 600 drums of toxic and radioactive waste from Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, and the US, with Somalia as the destination lined up by the traffickers.
These activities took place in the 1980s and 1990s.

Maurizio Dematteis with the Italian environmental umbrella Ligambiente 2001 said there were already more than 600,000 tonnes of radioactive waste on the floor of the Atlantic ocean along the coast of the western Sahara.

He also said there were three enormous illegal dumps – among the largest in the world – in Somalia, where workers handle the radioactive waste without any kind of safeguard or protective gear – not even gloves.
The workers do not know what they are handling, and if one of them dies, the family is persuaded to keep quiet with a small bit of cash, the activist added.

Somalia’s al-Shabaab Child Soldiers Speak Out [PHOTOS]

A week has passed now since Puntland security forces have been battling over a hundred of al-Shabaab insurgents in the Northern coastal villages of the autonomous region after arriving by boats from Central Somalia.
In one of the horrifying moments, Puntland officials on Monday displayed to the media dozens of brainwashed boys as young as 12-years who were captured alive during the battle. They were forced to join the terror group as part of their new plans to launch a new insurgency in the stable region.
Children are very vulnerable in conflict-ridden areas such as Somalia and need to be protected. The use of children as soldiers causes significant psychological and physical development challenges.
Thesix grave violations” against children identified by the United Nations Security Council. Yet the practice is pervasive, despite various legal instruments that aim to protect the rights of children in conflict.
recruitment and use of children by armed groups is one of “

From Classroom to Battlefield

Like most Islamist terror groups, al-Shabab either abducts its child recruits from their homes and schools or entices them by offers of free food and gifts. In some cases, however, the Islamists take advantage of a child’s grinding poverty by paying for his services.
One 15-year-old boy, Jama, said that he was convinced to join the group after being promised that he will receive free education.
‘’I wanted to be educated and they promised me that I will get education. I never knew that I will end up in this kind of situation. My parent never knew about that at all.’’
Aden Isack, 16, was a resident of Hudur district, Northwestern region of Bakool. According to him, he was abducted by al-Shabaab recruiters as he was en route to visit his mother in Mogadishu.
‘’They arrested me and later on told me that I was part of their army. I was trained for two month how to fight.’’
Another boy, Maslah, 16, said:’’ They told me that I will fight for the religion. I had no idea about al-Shabaab and my parent are not aware of where I am.’’
All of them had the same plea – to be pardoned and reunite with their families who are not aware of their fate. W

Most of their commanders were killed during the week-long battle after refusing to surrender to the troops.
For those who chafe at the idea of self-slaughter, the terrorists rely on the threat and use of violence to ensure compliance. Not surprisingly, the need to resort to violence to guarantee obedience comes from the fact that many child recruits don’t come to the jihad willingly, but are the victims of kidnapping by the terrorists.

A tool to continue terror campaign

It should be noted that the use of child combatants is a worldwide plague practiced by a wide array of government, militant, insurgent and terrorist forces. In fact, it is estimated that most of the 300,000 boys and girls involved in the over 30 ongoing conflicts worldwide are less than 15 years of age.
Yet, not surprisingly, al-Shabaab, have taken their use of child combatants to a completely new and ruthless level, disregard that finds its expression in forced indoctrination.
Commanders like children because it is easier to manipulate their psychological capacity to participate in mass atrocities.
Several current conflicts display the correlation between child soldiers and the potential for mass atrocities.
Yet, as horrific as life is for a child ensconced inside the ranks of an Islamist terror outfit, children outside their deadly confines can still find themselves unsuspectingly used for lethal operations.
The use of child soldiers is a scourge on society. In addition to the simple horror of forcing children, who should be playing and learning, to experience hell on earth, it prevents a generation from learning and working to end conflicts, perpetuating violence and discord.
However, it is an extremely difficult problem to deal with. Even as governments acknowledge its horror and work to end the practice, non-governmental entities, that often have no problem violating human rights norms, continue to kidnap, recruit and enlist children
Unfortunately for these children, the gruesome reality of their violent deaths will most definitely trump the empty promise of the jihadist paradise painted by their heinous guardians

Backing rival clans led to the Defeat at El Adde or More like Backing well-known Wanted Terrorists

Many have commented on and rightly condemned al Shabaab's January 15 attack on the Kenya Defence Forces base in El Adde, Somalia. But what most commentators knowingly or unknowingly ignored is the fact that many soldiers who escaped were not welcome by the locals and had to keep moving or end up in captivity – a sign of Kenya’s failure to win the hearts and minds of the locals.

When Kenya invaded Somalia in 2009, the government branded it a mission to free the country from al Shabaab, while pursuing its covert aim of establishing a buffer zone that it controls. However, by design or ignorance, the government aligned itself with leaders of the Puntland region of Somalia and a guerilla group of ethnic Somalis originally from Ethiopia. They share a tribal name with prominent Somali members of former and present Kenyan governments. That decision would come to haunt Kenya in El Adde.

The metropolitan city of Kismayu, which is the largest KDF base in Somalia, was mostly under the control of the largest tribe that resides in Gedo and a significant number in Jubba since the collapse of Siad Barre’s regime in 1992.

The Marehan tribe lives on 400km of border that Somalia shares with Kenya – the largest single tribe with which Kenya shares a Somalia border. In early 2009, news circulated the Kenyan government was soliciting the support of government leaders in Puntland, a semi-autonomous region in northern Somalia that’s inhabited mostly by the Majerteen tribe. It shares no border with Kenya and sought unsuccessfully many times to contest the control of Kismayu against the Marehan tribe unsuccessfully.

This time, the Ogaden tribe political leaders in Kenya, who used to remain neutral between Marehan and Majerteen clashes, were eager to take advantage of the invasion. They have campaigned successfully for the Kenyan government to support and include in the coalition an Ogaden militia stationed in Dhobley town, which has links with the Ethiopian government.

The alliance of convenience against Marehan and al Shabaab was born. None of the Somali Kenyan politicians' aim was to eliminate al Shabaab, as they said openly, although Kenya had other ulterior motives. The Ogaden Kenyan politicians and the Majerteen tribe of Puntland, Somalia, had their motive too: to take Kismayu once and for all from Marehan’s control with the use of Kenya’s financial and its military power.

Prior of Kismayu’s capture, the city was under the control of al Shabaab, however, the group allowed the Marehan system to remain in place and dominate the city’s politics. Al Shabaab understood that without Marehan’s implicit support holding the city or keeping it functional would prove to be difficult, so they offered the tribe an olive branch. When Kenyan forces captured the city in October 2012, Kenya crowned a former al Shabaab leader, who is Ogaden, and was born in the Ogaden region in Ethiopia. This opened a new chapter. Over time, under the Kenyan leadership in Kismayu, Marehan members became a target for the newcomers. Their men were killed, women raped, and property confiscated.

Those who had the means fled the city in large numbers and most of them moved to Mogadishu. Marehan failed to grasp the great game that was unfolding since early 2008.
However, Marehan blamed the Kenyan government for the tragedy that its invasion inflicted upon their businesses, families and their city – the Kenyan government failed to protect them from the Ogaden militia.

Under the Amisom agreement, Kenya is responsible for sectors two and three, which comprise Jubba and Gedo (Ethiopia has a large presence and influence in this area, too). Kenyan forces moved into Marehan cities, towns and villages like El Adde. The Ogaden and the Majerteen remained in Kismayu and left Kenya to deal with a hurt warrior tribe that’s known for its modesty and vengeance.
There are two reasons why the locals did not help the fleeing soldiers. One, al Shabaab kills anyone

who helps its enemy. Two, the Kenyan government aligned itself with and assisted tribes that have stolen Marehan's jewel city and killed their kinship. The Kenyan government, therefore, has to re-engage the Marehan locals, re-assess its overall strategy in Somalia, and pursue legal channels to punish those who have misled it.

For Kenya’s mission in Somalia to succeed, all the locals must be equal stakeholders in this endeavour, and Kenya should provide incentives to attract the locals' goodwill.

The Nexus between Somaliland and Al-Shabaab

Somaliland and Al-Shabaab UPDATE

Many accounts misapprehend the nature of the relationship between Somaliland and al-Shabaab.
The relationship, in fact, goes far beyond contact and coexistence, with significant financial assistance by Somaliland’s Ministry of Interior and Intelligence Agency providing the bulk of al-Shabaab’s financing and weapons, according to sources and al-Shabaab captured leaders. Somaliland intelligence is directly funded by foreign intelligence agencies, according to reports.

Somaliland Minister of Interior Ali Waran-Ade and other senior political, military, and business leaders including former ministers Mohamed Bihi Yonis, Hirsi Ali Hassan, and Suleiman Esa Ahmed as well as Colonel Muse Bihi Abdi and Abdirashid Duale, the CEO of Dahabshiil have actively financed and supported al-Shabaab as part of a strategy to undermine political and security progress in Somalia and boost support for Somaliland recognition.

Somaliland uses western economic development and security funds to finance al-Shabaab operations in Somalia. Waran-Ade, a former senior intelligence officer for the Siyad Barre’s National Security Services (NSS) directed financing and provided material support to al-Shabaab operations.

Al-Shabaab has a strong support in Somaliland, according to captured senior al-Shabaab commander and the government orchestrates, sustains as well as strongly influences the movement operations in Somalia. Somaliland also gives sanctuary to the families of senior al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida leaders, and provides support in terms of training, funding, munitions, and supplies for al-Shabaab. In their words, this is ‘as clear as the sun in the sky’.

Directly or indirectly Somaliland appears to exert significant influence on the strategic decision-making and field operations of al-Shabaab; and has greater away over operatives. According to recently defected al-Shabaab commander, Somaliland intelligence controls al-Shabaab’s counterintelligence units “Amniyat”, who are recruited from radical mosques in Hargeisa, Burco, Berbera Gabiley and Borama.

Former al-Shabaab operatives confirmed that the Somaliland Intelligence was represented on the al-Shabaab leadership council, known as the Shura, and the Security Council. Indeed, the agency appears to have circumscribed the al-Shabaab’s strategic autonomy.

Waran-Ade himself has apparently assured senior al-Shabaab leaders that they are ‘our people’ and have his backing. He has also apparently authorized al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida fighters and supporters release from Somaliland prisons, including senior al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula operative who was captured in Berbera on his way to Lower Shebelle to meet with al-Shabaab Emir Ahmed Umar.
In 2012, Somaliland police detained and released al-Shabaab Emir Ahmed Godane, al-Shabaab external operation leader Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdulkadir (Ikrima) and operative Ismail Muse, reportedly now head of al-Shabaab Mogadishu operations, who is one of the highest ranking in the movement below al-Shabaab Emir Ahmed Umar. The group was in Burco to meet with al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula emissaries and Dahabshiil and other al-Shabaab financiers.

Somaliland’s involvement with al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula is having a major implication for the international community. The governments of Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti have all been alarmed by the Somaliland, al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida nexus. Ethiopia and Djibouti have restricted borders with Somaliland.

Diplomatic outposts and international organizations have been instructed to relocate from Hargeisa to Mogadishu and limit contacts with senior Somaliland government officials.

Somaliland Strategy

Through providing sanctuary and support to al-Shabaab, Somaliland appears to be able to exert significant influence on al-Shabaab strategy. As a Somaliland political figure summarized: ‘Somaliland has some control “over the al-Shabaab”. They have influence in al-Shabaab’s decision-making. Sure, they have dominated the movement, but al-Shabaab has some independence. Likewise, a security analyst said: ‘al-Shabaab is obliged to accept Somaliland demands – it needs their support.’
The Somaliland-al-Shabaab relationship is founded on mutual benefits. Al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida need external sanctuary, as well as military and logistical support to sustain their insurgency in Somalia and Yemen. As a former al-Shabaab operative put it: ‘Somaliland are helping al-Shabaab a lot, but they only give for their own gain. According to the conflict analyst: ‘there is not an equal relationship between Somaliland and al-Shabaab – Somaliland is far more powerful. Al-Shabaab doesn’t have any choice except to live in Somaliland; where else can they go?’

Somaliland Leadership Collusion with Foreign Terrorist Organization’s
Security experts are divided on the extent to which Somaliland policy towards al-Shabaab insurgents is determined independently of civilian officials. Somaliland officials were aware of Waran-Ade’s and Somaliland intelligence role in supporting al-Shabaab and were actively encouraging it.’

The Daallo Airlines terrorist incident in early February and the bombing of seafood restaurant in Mogadishu suggest that the policy is approved at the highest level of Somaliland government. Al-Shabaab senior operative Ismail Muse, who planned, coordinated and financed both Daallo Airline and Mogadishu seafood restaurant attacks made several trips to Hargeisa, Burco and Borama to meet with Dahabshiil and senior Somaliland intelligence officer code name “Dagaxbuur”.

According to western intelligence source Dahabshiil deposited $50,000.00 monthly to secret account at the banks main office in Mogadishu to support Ismail Muse. Dahabshiil also deposited $18,000.00 to the bank account of senior Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) who was recently implicated and arrested for the Daallo Airline attack.

Somaliland Intelligence Operations in Somalia

Al-Shabaab commanders believe Somaliland shapes their operations in Somalia in a powerful, surreptitious and coercive way. Somaliland intelligence is part of Amniyat operational command. Certainly, insurgent skills and capabilities at the operational and tactical level suggest the involvement of trained professional military personnel. As a former security official said: ‘they give them the plans, the strategy and new techniques. The chain goes back to Somaliland.

Al-Shabaab Sanctuary, Funding, Munitions and Supplies

Al-Shabaab has a number of sources of external support, and there is little doubt that Somaliland is increasing the arms, funding and training they provide to the insurgents. Somaliland involvement in the early stages of the insurgency has been widely acknowledged. Somaliland were operating training camps for al-Shabaab recruits, and facilitating the supply of funds, equipment and arms.
Dahabshiil the Terror Bank of Choice for al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida

Dahabshiil financial support for al-Shabaab is diverse as confirmed by western intelligence officials. Dahabshiil collects al-Shabaab funds from charitable donations, applied to businessmen or farmers, especially traffickers; ransom from kidnappings; protection money from contractors or officials. Al-Shabaab funds are deposited to Dahabshiil in Hargeisa. A selected al-Shabaab financiers and facilitators have access to the funds and they manage the group’s funding, munitions and supplies.
As al-Shabaab military commander put it: ‘we receive salary, training, weapons, ammunition and expenses from Somaliland. … Everyone knows Somaliland gives money; it goes centrally, and then flows down. Another al-Shabaab commander said: ‘Of course, it’s a huge project, the insurgency needs huge funding, IEDs [improvised explosive devices], ammunition, training, needs everything, all of this has been given by Somaliland. We do not have facilities to produce any of this.

Outlook

Somaliland will continue its terrorist-related activities, including support for al-Shabaab and al-Qa’ida. Somaliland views al-Shabaab terrorism and insurgency as a crucial in its recognition strategy. The more Somalia suffers, the better chances for Somaliland becoming independent state. Somaliland has continued to generate significant concern regarding the role it plays in terrorist financing.
Dahabshiil continues to operate in vast black market and unregulated economy of Somalia. The hawala networks remained intertwined with terrorism financing, smuggling and transaction-based money laundering. This raises significant concerns that some members of the Somaliland government and the business elite were complicit in terrorist finance schemes.

The international community is working with the Somali Federal Government on sanctions to stop Somaliland support of foreign terrorist organization. The international community and the Somali government are also working on financial, military, and economic sanctions as well travel restriction and terrorist designation for Waran-Ade, Dagaxbuur, Dahabshiil and several other senior Somaliland officials, according to credible source.

Secessionist Somaliland and Al Shabaab two faces of the Same Token (Al Shabaab Puzzle!)

Special Report: Details Emerge Daallo Airline Terror Attack Collaboration Between Alshabaab. Muslim Brotherhood Federal Government and Somaliland Secessionist Northern Somalia Regional one Clan Separatist Emerges

The Somali Media reported that according to U.S investigators, the suspected bomber, who was blown out of the Daallo airlines applied for his Somali passport online from Hargeisa."Abdullahi Abdulsalan Borleh bought his ticket from Angola, to Bombay, India by way of Turkey" ,Joint Investigation Team (JIT)  officials said.

As the Camera shows, two different days had been carried the laptop to the airport.  It shows Hassan Atto and Abdiweli entering into the airport and sat a restaurant next to where the Khat is unloaded before they proceeded to another restaurant near the flight where they joined Borleh sitting there with the laptop.

After drinking tea together, they were told Turkish Airlines flight was  canceled that day for bad weather. Their target of that day was the suspended Turkish Airlines.
The next day as the CCTV shows Atto {Mr Nice Shirt} managed a bag with a laptop to pass the screening. A gray policeman was standing there and an AMISOM security personnel was playing mobile games.

The X-ray machines  at the Mogadishu airport did detect the bomb by signaling yellow but unfortunately, the sign was not known to the Turkish man who was there. Mr Atto, who was the departure lounge took the laptop without any disturbing and sat next to two Somali MPs:  Fadumo from Isack clan and Dahir from Hawadle clan, in the waiting room for the flight.

Abdiweli, an agent for NISA - Somalia's National Intelligence and security agency joined to Hassan Atto to take him to  Borleh when he was alone in the waiting room- left behind all the passengers about five minutes. They saw off  Borleh to the gate of the plane.

According to the Group. Borleh  carried the laptop computer with a bomb in it onto Daallo Airlines Flight 159 and he secured himself 16 F seat where he quarreled  with a man that already booked the seat. The man left and Borleh remained there.1986 American Airplane TWA also some one blows up himself with same seat 16 F ,three people died.

The two text seats were empty and he managed to place the device to maximize damage but he was too hurried. It only reached 10, 000 feet when the laptop was blown into many pieces. Luckily they were, they did not  reach their cruising altitude of 30,000ft which the blast likely would have set off a catastrophic secondary explosion in the fuel tank.

When the terrorist attack failed,  officials from Somaliland  entered bargain to Al-Shabaab for claiming the responsibility for the attack but after rejected it, business people that finance the terrorist group intervened in to persuade it and Somaliland gave one million U.S dollar to Al-Shabaab for claiming it which they eventually did it.

The explosive device built into a laptop computer that detonated on a Somalia passenger jet was made in a house belonging to a pro-Somaliland businessman and one of the ISIL faction founders in Somalia, Abdikarim Seenyo, who hails from Sheekhaal clan.

According to reliable sources, the Laptop has been placed into the hands of  Hassan Atto by Mustaf Harqanle, a man who always stays at the seaport and also a nephew Seenyo.

Mr Atto, nicknamed Mr. Nice Shirt was involved several terrorist attacks before, including the hotels that he had worked: Sahafi Hotel, Jazeera Hotel, SYL Hotel and Central Hotel. Unconfirmed source says that he also involved in Lido  restaurant attack.Atto went with Abdiweli, where he was killed by a car bomb.

Colonel Abdiweli asked Atto to drive the car to Wadajir district without knowing that he was being eliminated. Abdiweli told him to stay in the car as he was telling that he wanted to see off his kid and get some stuff for himself from the store.

A little bit later,  a bomb that detonated in the car went off  after Abdiweli pushed the bottom of a remote control killing Atto and sending the car into the sky.

SOMALIA: MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD THIEFS STEALING FROM POOR SOMALIS

Latest Modern-day slavery news

Dear Somalis, I Am writing this to try and educate my Somali people who may be gullible and naive. Recently I heard that the process of hiring workers to Saudi Arabia has started.
Workers are conned to give up to $1000 so as to get visa (iqama) to go and work to Saudi Arabia as domestic workers.(muqalis nimo) fee
My fellow citizens you are been conned by agencies in the name of getting you visa and work.
First workers who want to work in Saudi get at least $200 to$ 300(800 riyal to 1000riyal)
Secondly the contract is two years.

So if you give $1000 and still you used at least $200 to get passport from immigrating you end up spending $1200.that is equivalent to 5 to 6 month of work without been paid.

What am trying to say is as a worker you are not suppose to pay anything. As all the expenses of getting a visa, air ticket, medical certificate should be and is provided by the Arabs who hire the worker through the Somali companies authorized by the Muslim Brotherhood minister of labor to do that work as they have been awarded accreditation certificate by the ministry.
The agency fee for a company (the profit of a company) is paid to them by the Arab company who work with them i.e they have a contract with the Somali companies.
In short all requirements like medical certificate visa fee or Air ticket for a worker is done by the two companies involved and they all make profit. As this money is paid to them by the person who you are going to work for.
So people don’t be in a hurry to pay money while this service is free of charge.Dont assume  there is shortage of work and that by paying you will get a chance. By doing so you will be paying Somali companies extra money while their profit assured. This is by saying you are giving someone your salary equivalent five to six month salary.
Avoid people or companies   who will ask for money to get you a visa for work to Saudi Arabia. Good agency is free of charge. The need you more. This is just indicating how people are greedy and want quick money without any feeling for a poor person who is trying to make a living from a hard work.
Through educating one another we will reach places and develop our nation. The fake agencies stop conning people and just say Alhamdulillah to the profit you get

Somalia:Muslim Brotherhood Gov Assassination Attempt on Journalists' Leader

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) is alarmed about today's attempt to assassinate its Secretary General, Omar Faruk Osman, as he was entering the union's headquarters in Mogadishu.
At around 14hrs, Omar Faruk Osman was coming back from city centre and his vehicle was standing at the gate of NUSOJ headquarters, waiting the gate to be opened, when a white sedan with three armed men sprayed Omar’s vehicle with bullets. Omar’s Bodyguards exchanged fire with assailants, until attackers were overpowered and run away from the scene. One of Omar’s bodyguards and two other pedestrians at Taleex Street were seriously wounded in this attack.
"This is a vicious and cowardly murder attempt against our Secretary General Omar Faruk Osman. It is clearly aimed at intimidating our union, and it was only by good fortune that Omar Faruk escaped death,” said Abdirisak Omar Ismail, President of NUSOJ Supreme Council.
NUSOJ categorically states that it will not bow to the intimidations and dangers posed to its leadership, and shall remain defiant in executing its mandate without fear, speaking out against suppressive actions and policies against journalists and media community.
"It is an outrage that people must risk their lives simply to represent the interests of journalists. If the Somali Government is serious about bringing peace and prosperity to Somalia it must swiftly identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” added Ismail. "We do not need empty promises anymore”.

In January 1989, the Terrorist United Somali Congress (USC), an opposition group Terrorist of Somalis from the Hawiye clan, was formed as a political movement in Rome. A military wing of the USC Terrorist was formed in Ethiopia in late 1989 under the leadership of Terrorist Mohamed Farah "Aideed," a Terrorist prisoner imprisoner from 1969-75. We Are Winning the War on Terrorism in Horn of Africa

The threat is from violent extremists who are a small minority of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims, the threat is real. They distort Islam. They kill man, woman and child; Christian and Hindu, Jew and Muslim. They seek to create a repressive caliphate. To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for.
