interview with terror free somalia Abud-wak district commissioner, Hassan Abud-Wak, said his administration has already deployed extra security personnel in and around the Abud-Wak town to counter any security threat in the area.
Hassan however, expressed confidence that the conference will kick off next Saturday as scheduled, saying that most of the ASWJ delegates attending the conference are already on the ground.
Al-Shabaab compels Bardera traders to pay moneyThe Al-Shabaab militia in Bardera district of Gedo region has compelled small scale traders in the area to pay Shs 200, 000 every month.Some of the local traders in the district told local mogadishu radio that they are worried of the Al-Shabaab’s brutal rules compelling them to pay an amount they could not afford amid the devastating drought in the region, saying that they are desperately suffering under the Al-Shabaab militia group in the area.The militia threatened to take decisive measures including imprisonment against defaulters.
Al-Shabaab’s brutal move to impose levy on already ailing small scale traders in the district comes as people in the area are fleeing into the neighboring countries in search of relief aid amid the escalated drought situation in Somalia.
