May 21, 2010 – According to eye-witness reporters, Ethiopian troops committed massacre in the town of Buhotle, the capital of Ayn Region inSSC 13 people had been reported killed and dozen others wounded. 3 Ethiopian soldiers also lost their lives in the encounter. The attack came after fighting broke out in Widhwidh Town, situated 45 km southwest of Buhotle.
Yusuf Hassan, one of the Buhotle elders told Laasqoray, “Ethiopian troops came to subdue and blockade the people of Buhotle so that we cannot extend hand to Widhwidh Yareey (the town Somaliland Troops occupied less than 24 hrs earlier),” Yusuf said.
Area only hospital confirmed 13 deaths and civilians wounded in the fight. Tonight, the Ethiopian Troops are outside the City limits however, no one knows what is to follow once the daybreak comes. The other hand, another battle is going on in Widhwidh Town; demonstrations were reported in Lasanod, the town occupied by Somaliland forces back on October 15, 2007.
“The people of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn have been battling separatist forces backed by Ethiopian military hardware and financies. We will not falter and give in our freedom no matter what price we have to pay; Somalia is one and only one and shall remain so,” Yusuf added.
