NAIROBI, Kenya — The European Union's anti-piracy force says Somali pirates have hijacked a cargo ship carrying ballast in the Gulf of Aden.The MV Olib G and its crew of 18 were hijacked early Wednesday, the force says in a statement. The crew consists of 15 Georgian and three Turkish sailors.The USS Princeton received a report a hijacking may be in process but it was unable to contact the ship. A helicopter crew from the warship identified two pirates on board, the statement says.The Malta-flagged cargo ship was sailing in a corridor recommended by a coalition of naval forces that patrol the Gulf of Aden, the statement says.Somalia's lawlessness during the past 19 years has allowed piracy to thrive off its Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden coastlines.
